Suppurative lymphadenitis in the neck caused by Actinomyces infection. The eosinophilc rim represents the Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon.

Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon is the presence of deeply eosinophilic material, typically surrounding micro-organisms.[1] It it thought to be composed of immunoglobulin and necrotic debris rich in microbial antigen.
