Amyloid comment

Lymph Node, Station 4L, FNA: Amyloid present, see comment.

Comment:
Lymphocytes, multinucleated giant cells and amorphous debris (in keeping with amyloid) present. A congo red stain confirms the presence of amyloid.

Amyloid may be caused by a number of conditions, including neoplasias. Further clinical work-up is indicated.

The case will be sent for mass spectroscopy.

Special stains for micro-organisms (GMS, PAS, PASD) are NEGATIVE.
