A tissue microarray (often abbreviated: TMA) is a paraffin block (recipient) with cylindrical tissue biopsies taken from individual tissue samples (donors).
The method was introduced by Kononen et al. in 1998 [1] and is widely used in pathology especially in tumor analysis.
