High-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia-like ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate, abbreviated PIN-like adenocarcinoma, is an uncommon type of prostate cancer that histomorphologically mimics high-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN).
General
- Described in ~2006.[1][2]
- May be confused with prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN).[3]
Microscopic
- Columnar cells with pseudostratified nuclei.
- Non-columnar cells with round nuclei also described.
- Simple glands: flat, tufted or micropapillary.
Note:
- Vaguely similar to a tubular adenoma of the colon.
DDx:
- HGPIN - has basal cells or a few glands.
