Urachal remnant is a benign congenital abnormality that occasionally becomes symtpomatic.
It includes:[1]
- Urachal cyst.
- Urachal diverticulum.
- Patent urachus.
General
- Benign.
- Often asymptomatic.
- May become inflamed and be symptomatic.
- Can cause "fever of unknown origin".[2]
- Common in adults - possibly up to 30% of population.[3]
Gross
- Between umbilicus and dome of bladder.
- May bulge into the urinary bladder.[4]
Microscopic
