Benign thymus with stress

Microscopic
The section shows thymus with normal cortical and medullary development. The corticomedullary junction is well demarcated; however, there is an increase in histiocytes within the cortex and focal degenerative changes of thymic corpuscles.
Final diagnosis
Thymus, incidental thymectomy:
- Architecturally normal thymus with mild to moderate physiologic stress effects.
