Henoch-Schönlein purpura, abbreviated HSP, a disease that afflicts children.
Pathologically, it can be thought of as the combination of:
Clinical features
The classic triad is:[2]
- Palpable purpura.
- Abdominal pain.
- Arthritis.
Mnemonic NAPA:[3]
- Nephritis.
- Arthralgia/arthritis.
- Palpable purpura.
- Abdominal pain.
Work-up - partial:
- ESR - high.
- Creatinine - high.
- CBC - platelets should be normal or high.
- Low platelets + purpura think thrombotic microangiopathies (e.g. TTP, HUS).
