Myxoid lesions occasionally appear on the pathologist's desk.
The differential diagnosis is very large.
Myxoid stroma
Has a pale/blue appearance.
Examples:
- Basal cell carcinoma.
- Inflammatory fibroid polyp - GI tract.
- Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma - soft tissue.
- Myxoid fibroadenoma - breast.
- Myxoid DFSP.
- Phyllodes tumour - breast.
