Summary

Description
English: High magnification micrograph of tumour infiltrating lymphocytes, abbreviated TILs, in a case of colorectal carcinoma. TILs may also be spelled tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. H&E stain.

When TILs are present the lymphocytes are found between the tumour cells; cells in the stroma surrounding the tumour cells do not count.[1] It should be noted that definitions for TILs vary.

TILs are associated with microsatellite instability (MSI) cancers, as seen in Lynch syndrome.[2]
