Summary

Description
English: Intermediate magnification micrograph of a papillary cystadenoma lymphomatosum (Warthin tumour), a benign tumour of salivary glands, that classically arises in the parotid gland. H&E stain.

Features of papillary cystadenoma lymphomatosum seen in the image:

  • Papillae (nipple-shaped structures), tubular masses of cells, with a two rows of pink (eosinophilic) epithelial cells (with cuboidal basal cells and columnar luminal cells) -- left aspect of image.
  • Fibrous capsule (painted with blue ink to denote the resection margin) -- run diagonally across image (pink & homogenous).
  • Cystic space (white - left/upper portion).
  • Lymphoid stroma (blue).
