Summary

Description
English: Intermediate magnification micrograph of hypersensitivity pneumonitis, also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis (EAA). Lung biopsy. Trichrome stain.

EAA, as seen in the micrograph, is characterized by:

  • Chronic interstitial inflammation consisting primarily of lymphocytes and includes granulomata.
  • Interstitial fibrosis.
  • Air space involvement (alveolitis).
