Negative biopsy

Minor Salivary Gland (Site Not Further Specified), Biopsy:
     - Benign minor salivary gland with mild chronic inflammation,
       plasma cell predominant.
     - Focus score less than one; NOT SUGGESTIVE of Sjoegren's disease.

Comment:
Estimated area of salivary gland: 20 mm*mm.
Number of foci (~50 lymphocytes): 0.
Plasma cells: predominant (>50%).
Fibrosis: minimal.
Focus score (number of foci / area x 4 mm*mm) = < 1.

Lower Lip [Minor Salivary Gland], Biopsy:
- Benign minor salivary gland within normal limits (Focus score less than than one).

Comment:
Estimated area of salivary gland: 25 mm*mm.
Number of foci (~50 lymphocytes): zero.
Plasma cells: rare.
Fibrosis: none/minimal.
Focus score (number of foci / area x 4 mm*mm) = < 1.

The findings do NOT exclude Sjoegren's disease. Clinical and serologic correlation is required.
