Comment:
Lymphocytes, multinucleated giant cells and amorphous debris in keeping with amyloid is present.  A congo red stain confirms the presence of amyloid.  

Amyloid deposition may be caused by a number of conditions, including neoplasias.  Further clinical work-up is indicated.

The case will be sent for mass spectroscopy.

Special stains for micro-organisms (GMS, PAS, PASD) are NEGATIVE.
