Sclerosing mucoepidermoid carcinoma with eosinophilia is an extremely rare tumour of the thyroid gland.

General

Associated with:

Microscopic

Features:

  • Mucous cells
  • Squamoid differentiation.

DDx:

Stains

  • Mucin stains +ve.

IHC

  • TTF-1 +ve
  • Thyroglobulin -ve.
  • PAX8 +ve.
  • Calcitonin -ve.

Molecular

  • Negative for MAML2 rearrangements.[1]
