P40
Immunostain in short

p40 immunostain in squamous cell carcinoma.
Similar stains p63 - less specific for squamous carcinoma than p40
Use lung (adenocarcinoma vs. squamous)
Normal staining pattern nuclear staining
Positive squamous cell carcinoma, urothelial carcinoma
Negative prostate carcinoma, most lung adenocarcinoma, most breast carcinoma

p40 an immunostain that is both sensitive and specific for squamous cell carcinoma. Like other "p" immunostains (e.g. p16, p63), it is a nuclear stain.
