Hyperthyroidism is pathologically increased thyroid gland function.

It is often due to Graves' disease.

Mnemonic

Mnemonic hyperTHYROIDISM:[1][2]

  • Tremor.
  • HR elevated, palpitations.
  • Yawn (fatigue).
  • Restlessness.
  • Oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea.
  • Intolerance to heat.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Irritable.
  • Sweating.
  • Muscle wasting/weight loss.
