Gallstone pancreatitis

Gallstone pancreatitis is generally a clinical diagnosis. It may be seen in the context of autopsy.

The treatment is cholecystectomy to avoid recurrence.

Microscopic - gallbladder

Features:

• Aggregates of intraepithelial neutrophils ~ 60% of cases.
• Findings of chronic cholecystitis ~ 30% of cases.
• Findings of acute cholecystitis ~ 10% of cases.
