Carbonic anhydrase 9, abbreviated CA9 and CAIX, is a common immunostain used in genitourinary pathology.
General
- Several clones available - clone M75 most common.[1]
Staining
Positive
- Clear cell renal cell carcinoma.[2]
- 95% +ve with clone NB100-417 and clone M75.[1]
- Epithelioid mesothelioma.[3]
- Benign mesothelium.[4]
Negative
- Xp11.2 translocation carcinoma.[2]
- Breast carcinoma.[5] ‡
- Seminoma.[5]
