ALK translocation renal cell carcinoma, also ALK-rearranged renal cell carcinoma, is a proposed entity within the Vancouver modification of the 2004 WHO classification of renal neoplasia.[1]

General

  • Extremely rare - 1 in 829 consecutively screened patients.[2]
    • In 2016, less than 17 cases reported.[3]
  • May be related to renal medullary carcinoma which is reported to have an ALK rearrangement - t(2;10)(p23;q22).[4]
  • May respond to ALK inhibitors such as alectinib[5] or crizotinib.[3]
